ABOUT CATE

Cate is most interested in finding the balance between storytelling as escapism and using cinema as a tool for change. She has led productions across the US and internationally, and she wishes to create films in which on-location shooting underscores the ethos of the story. She aspires to use film as a tool to illuminate the idiosyncrasies of the people, places, and stories in our world in order to promote compassion, advocate for social and climate change, encourage introspection, and create memorable narratives. Her favorite genre is magical realism.

As a creative producer, Cate works very closely with directors to develop their stories. She has successfully organized and led numerous crowdfunding campaigns and fundraising events. She is also a skilled line producer, having overseen all logistic elements of production with cast and crew numbering up to 125 persons at once.

Cate received a Bachelor of Arts from the New York University Martin Scorsese Department of Cinema Studies and the Department of French Literature, Thought, and Culture. Initially focused on film academia, Cate began producing extracurricularly for NYU Tisch Film student productions and pursued a minor in Film Producing. She was then accepted into the Producing in London Tisch Special Program. Throughout undergrad, Cate broadened her producing knowledge beyond narrative film, including commercial, B2B, and experiential productions. Cate also had the privilege to work in development for Hangtime Films (formerly Braven Films) under Oscar-award winning producer Frida Torresblanco.

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Cate currently resides in New York City. Outside of film, Cate engages in movement practices such as dance, yoga, and pilates. She completed a Dance minor at NYU and has been dancing with RACHEL:dancers Dance Company since 2023.
